In 1914, Mary Scott opened her doors to the African American community to aid in the care of those who could not otherwise afford long term care. For almost a century the work that Mary Scott conceived has carried on in the hearts and minds of the community as well as here at Mary Scott Nursing Center.

We at Mary Scott Nursing Center could not provide the care needed for our community if it weren't for the support of the community itself. We all work together to strengthen and empower our community it is not about any one organization or individual, but threads of that grand tapestry of hope and caring that strengthens and protects those of us who otherwise may be lost.

It is for this reason that Mary Scott honors women of the Miami Valley that have dedicated their lives to the community. Each year we present awards to 15 women that have enriched the community and touched others less fortunate in a truly indelible way. These women have come from all walks of life but share the compassion and and spirit that Mary Scott possessed so many years ago.

If you know of such a woman, please nominate them for this award. The deadline for 2012 has passed, and this year's honorees have been selected. However, we are always accepting nominations for future consideration.
